How a garage cleanout works

Most garage cleanouts happen in a single visit. A quick description of how full the garage is — a quarter full, half full, packed wall to wall — helps plan the time and crew needed.

The crew sorts through the space with you, confirms what's leaving, and loads it directly from the garage. Items you want to keep, even if they're mixed in with everything else, are left alone.

If the garage cleanout uncovers items better suited for another service — an old refrigerator, for example, or a box of documents for donation — that can usually be handled in the same visit.

One thing to flag ahead of time

Paint, solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals typically need to go through a household hazardous waste program rather than standard junk removal — mention if the garage includes items like this so it can be discussed before the visit.

Very heavy items (engine blocks, large amounts of concrete or masonry, etc.) may need to be flagged ahead of time due to weight limits.
